An Energy Loan of €150 Million from European Investment Bank to Development Bank of Turkey

A loan agreement of €150 million was signed between our Bank and the European Investment ank (EIB) on December 10, 2009.

The signing ceremony of the EIB Environment and Energy II Credit Agreement of €300 million in total – the half of which will be drawn by Development Bank of Turkey – took place at its Luxembourg center, with the participation of the Undersecretary of Treasury as a guarantor, our Bank and another agent bank. The agreement was signed by the General Manager Abdullah Çelik and the Assistant General Manager Metin Pehlivan on behalf of our Bank.

Our Bank has been working as an agent bank since 2002 with the EIB which grants credits through global credit agreements made with agent banks, in order to meet the financing needs of investments in our country since 2001. The loan allocated by our Bank to investors amounts to 147,500,000 euros in total through various agreements signed with the EIB.

The credit which is the continuation of this process will be used in financing the projects developed in environment, energy and energy efficiency sectors, outside the restrictions set by EU and the EIB. The term of the credit will be at least 4 years on the basis of the project, its maximum utilization amount on the basis of the firm being €25,000,000 or its equivalent in USD.

Our Bank, which supports renewable energy investments, granted energy credits in the amount of TL 769,632,000 in total as of December 10th, 2009. The TL 431,840,000 of this amount were to be used under a contract, and TL 254,048,000 were paid for investments carried out up to now.

Our Bank will continue henceforward to support investors through credit agreements as in the past.
